MorningStar Senior Living Celebrates 15 Years


While MorningStar at Jordan Creek opened early this year in the West Des Moines area, the MorningStar Company is proudly celebrating 15 years of providing seniors with exceptional senior living options.  Our company was founded by Ken Jaeger who was born and raised on a large multi-generational farm in the Midwest where he was daily presented with lessons in economics, diligence, and hard work.   

After working for over fifteen years in leadership roles within senior living, Ken had a dream that he could do it better.  His desire was build a company that was built on human touch.  In fact, Ken wanted to re-create his grandmother’s house, “a place where one can go and feel a sense of family.”

So began MorningStar, which was grounded on three mission statements:

·        Honor God in our business practices and relationships — a commitment to strong moral values and ethics
·         Value all seniors as gifted and contributing individuals — a commitment to creating a community that promotes a healthy, engaged lifestyle, while providing security and independence
·         Invest generously in our team’s ability to serve well — a commitment to hiring and retaining employees who use creative minds and compassionate hearts to serve residents

Even our name “MorningStar” comes from Ken’s devotional bible readings. He also knew from the start that he wanted part of the company’s profits to be used to relieve poverty around the world, which has continued to this day.  For example, MorningStar Senior Living has raised $220,000 to aid orphans in Nicaragua.
